La Serenissima

La Serenissima presents rarely heard Baroque vocal and instrumental music from 17th century Venice. It features the music of Barbara Strozzi, the most prolific Venetian composer of her era and a woman of unusual talent and life experience. Strozzi's breathtaking cantatas are paired with the effervescent music of her contemporary, Benedetto Ferrari, a composer and impresario who came to Venice at the dawn of the new world of opera.

The Ensemble is comprised of some of Kansas City's finest musicians, and is proud to be joined by special guest harpsichordist Susanna Baltensperger, of Zurich.

Victoria Botero – Soprano
Susanna Baltensperger – Harpsichord
Trilla Ray Carter – Baroque Cello
Brandon Draper – Baroque percussion
